Piano World debuted in March 2008. Many teachers felt their students needed books that covered more material at a quicker paced. Although the curriculum remains the same high quality as you have come to expect with The Piano Lesson, Piano World is more compact.
Created to ENHANCE AND EXPAND your studio lessons, this fast paced curriculum has the same solid foundation as The Piano Lesson-Fully Staffed that you have come to trust with a slightly different approach. Beginning with Level 1A; Early Elementary Level, students are up and running or should we say playing? The books are split into A and B, so the sense of accomplishment comes much quicker. For older beginners and the exceptional student, these books are a must. A quick repertoire guide is listed on the back cover of each level. By the time the student has completed Level 4B, they will be able to play all of their Major and natural minor scales 2 octaves hands together, learned 120 vocabulary words, developed stellar technique from the exercises, have elementary theory principles and analysis under their belt and experienced a plethora of composers and their compositions.
AND THE BEAUTY OF THIS IS THAT IT CAN ALL BE ACCOMPLISHED WITHIN THE LESSON!
The 8 books cover 4 levels: 1A-4B. Level 1A is for the beginning student and Level 4B the Early Intermediate. Each book contains 15 weeks of material, ideal for a teaching semester.
Included in each level are:
- 15 Practice Charts called Weekly Route Maps
- 10 Warm-up Exercises called Gearing-Up Exercises
- Scales-Levels A have the sharp keys; B have the flat keys-these are entitled River of Scales
- 15 theory lessons in the Continent of Theory with each lesson called a Site. The 15th Site is a Theory Report of music analysis.
- 15 vocabulary words in Piano Language
- 10 music appreciation lessons entitled Piano Culture-Opening new doors
Each book ends with an Expedition Report. This records the events and repertoire the student has accomplished during the 15 weeks. When students complete Level 4B they can transfer into Level 6 of The Piano Lesson.
These books will easily work with class piano and lab settings. Private Studio Teachers can divide classes into a 15 week session and promoting students to the next level. What a terrific way to organize your studio! This gives students the incentive to complete their work in a timely manner. They dont want to be left behind while their friends are all going forward. Holding all students accountable, it elevates your status as a teacher; having developed a studio standard.
